Different sizes

If you're looking for a large smartwatch, the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic is the one for you at 46mm in diameter. The smallest is 40mm wide and these are available in both Galaxy 4 and Galaxy 5, but if you want the latest and greatest model, there's the Galaxy 5 Pro at 45mm in diameter. The Galaxy 5 Pro is the largest smartwatch available.

Different connectivity: LTE or Bluetooth?

All models are available either as LTE or Bluetooth. Enclosed we have given you a brief overview of the differences.


LTE connectivity in smartwatches:


  • Advantages: Independence on a connected smartphone: A smartwatch with LTE connectivity allows you to make calls, send messages and use the internet without the need to connect to your smartphone. This allows you to use the smartwatch independently, even when your smartphone is not in range. Enhanced connectivity: With LTE, you can access cellular networks through the Smartwatch, providing greater range and connectivity. You can answer calls and send messages even when you're out of range of your smartphone.
  • Disadvantages: Higher power consumption: LTE connectivity may increase the power consumption of the Smartwatch. Connecting to the cellular network requires more energy, which can cause the battery to drain faster than a smartwatch without LTE. Potentially higher costs: A smartwatch with LTE connectivity usually requires a separate data connection or mobile phone contract to use the LTE features. This may result in additional monthly costs for the data connection. Potentially larger device size: Integrating LTE into a smartwatch may result in the device becoming larger and heavier overall. This may influence personal preferences regarding wearing comfort.

Bluetooth connectivity in smartwatches:


  • Advantages: Energy efficient: Bluetooth is an energy efficient connectivity method compared to LTE. This allows the smartwatch to have a longer battery life as less energy is needed to connect. Easy connection with smartphone: Bluetooth enables a wireless connection between the Smartwatch and a paired smartphone. This allows notifications, calls and other functions of the Smartwatch to be seamlessly synchronised with the smartphone. Lower costs: Compared to LTE connectivity, there are usually no additional monthly costs for Bluetooth connectivity. The connection to the smartphone is made via Bluetooth, which is already integrated in most smartphones and smartwatches.
  • Disadvantages: Limited range: Bluetooth has a limited range, usually in the range of about 10 metres. If the smartphone is outside this range, the connection between the smartwatch and the smartphone may be interrupted. Dependence on smartphone: A Smartwatch with Bluetooth connectivity requires a permanent connection to the paired smartphone in order to use many functions. If the smartphone is not in range or is switched off, certain functions of the smartwatch may be limited or unavailable.

It is important to note that the advantages and disadvantages of a smartwatch's connectivity may also depend on individual needs, preferences and intended use.
